First off, for those that don't know, you recently had a child. How old is
he and how much sleep are you getting a night?
My son's name is Dillinger Moses Singer. He was born Dec.10th and is an angel.
I am up all night and day!!! Hard work but is worth it.
About 10 years ago, you were involved in the
How do you feel about it looking back on the experience? If you could go
back in time, what would you tell yourself? Would you make any changes or
just say "fuck it," and let the chips fall where they may?
I don't regret anything I said. I am a real dude and I will answer you honestly.
The only regret I have is that I could of done more homework on the business end of the industry back then.
During that time, you were in a band called Crown of Thornz. I know you
guys played the Super Bowl of Hardcore a few years ago, any chance for that
again, or was that a one-time deal?
I will be playing the Super Bowl of Hardcore with Crown Of Thornz this year!!! Mike DiJan and I have been talking about it and now we're getting shit ready.
Having been in the music world for some time, where is the one place on tour
that you love going? Are there any situations you've gotten yourself into
(legal or otherwise) that you thought, "This might be it?"
I love touring and performing. I love touring Europe and
I been in trouble all over the world and always knew I was gonna be o.k. There has times that I been home and was like "Damn, How the hell did I get outta that one!".
Obviously, the hip-hop game has been more financially successful, but which
musical endeavor has been more fun for you?
I love performing live on stage with my music. The hardcore shit is more intense and I love the energy when I rock the stage. The hip-hop stuff is a piece of cake compared to performing the hardcore stuff!!!
I know that Ernie C from Body Count went from being involved in metal and
hip hop to being a pretty successful producer, any plans for you to get
behind the controls anytime soon? If so, what one band (current or not)
would you like to produce a record for?
I been producing for a while now. The first band I ever produced was a band called Desperate Measures outta
I am also directing videos. I directed the Skam Dust video called "G#DZ OF WAR" and the Danny Diablo Vs. The Vendetta video called "2 In The Fitted".
How was it working on the Icepick record with Jamie and the rest of the
guys? Did you guys get to chill with Ice-T? If so, any funny stories?
I recorded my vocals for that record in 4 hours!!! I was in a hotel with two girls partying because I had a record release party for my "Hardcore 4 Life" E.P. the night before. Jasta calls me up and tells me that I have to be in
thank G#d for Zeuss!!! Zeuss did a great job and we had mad fun doing the record.
Ice- T is mad cool, I toured with him on the Warp tour back in 98 or 99 with my old band Skarhead.
I didn't see him at all for the Icepick record.
Is there a follow-up to Violent Epiphany coming anytime soon?
Yes but you have to ask Jasta!!! He runs on his own Jasta Time schedule.
What's in-store for Danny Diablo in 2009?
Just finished my record for Hellcat records. It is called "International Hardcore Superstar". I been working on this record for almost 2 and a half years!!! Tim Armstrong produced it and it is my best work yet!!!
I also did a record in
I am also releasing The ShotBlockers Street C.D. on CountDown/Real Recognizes Real Records and the KAOS 13 Street C.D. on CountDown Records in May.
Look out for the Panic and Grizz Rock Street C.D.'s coming out in 2009 on CountDown/Real Recognizes Real Records.
I know you live in
hardcore shows. Obviously, you're a busy dude, but any local acts that we
should be paying attention to out here on the East Coast?
Lion Heart is a dope new band from the Bay Area in
How has the internet helped/hurt you? What do you think about downloading
music (or people downloading your music, in particular)?
I guess it is a double edged sword in a way. Itgets my music out to more people but also people will download my music from sites for free. I make my money on tour. People by my merch and want to see the live show.
I am marketed like a hip-hop dude but I make my money the punk rock way.
Speaking of the internet, there have been rumors for years circulating on a
certain hardcore message board about some issues between you and Integrity.
I know that Skarhead song Y.A.S. dealt with a particular member, but would
you care to confirm/deny or elaborate on any stories involving yourself and
them? Also, what's the deal with the Skam Dust diss of Harley Cro-Mag?
What ever happened in the past is in the past. I am a street kid so if something would ever pop off cause of this music shit I am gonna take care of it on the streets. People know this and that is why I don't ever have any problems with other artist.
Harley was a person I looked up to since I was a kid. I love the Cro-Mags and I am good friends with John and Mackie. I was real cool with Harley until he wrote that L.E.S. O.G. song. I even posted the video on the internet when he forwarded it to me until I really sat down and listened to the lyrics.
Basically he dissed my fam on the song and I can't allow that. I even wrote to him about it and we even spoke.
I even told him that he can keep the video up if he changes the lyrics. I think that was pretty cool of me cause this dude blatenly dissed me and I am giving him a second chance. Dude made up so many excuses, that he didn't mean anything by it, that they are just lyrics, that he has no money to change anything... and so on and so on.
I left it alone until I saw the new revised video that he did for the song. This time he wrote some shit in the beginning of the video that is basically a slap to my face. He didn't change anything. He actually went in and put more shit in the beginning of the video to diss me and my fam even more.
That is why I did the Skam Dust song "G#dz Of War ( Harley Is A Bitch). Dude will never see me on a street level so I did what would hurt him the most. I dissed him in a song and did a dope video for the song.
Dude isn't gonna do anything, I even heard that he went to the hip-hop police!!! If dude wants to do something on a physical level then lets set up one of his mma matches and we will do it for charity. I will train for 1 month and beats his ass in front of the whole world then give all the money to a charity for kids!!!
If someone really wants to do this then just hit me up!!!
Ezec, thanks again for answering this long-ass list of questions. If you
have any questions feel free to shoot me an e-mail. If you want a copy of
the final product, let me know. Thanks!
Thank you for doing this bro.
Shout out to the almighty D.M.S. Crew
